About Nichola Bryan

Sydney artist Nichola Bryan promotes sustainability and ecological awareness by creating playful artworks from collected and found waste materials including litter from the Parramatta River, local bush tracks, playgrounds and recreational areas. Her works explore both the positive and negative impact humans can have on animals and our environment.

Nichola aims to inspire audiences to make sustainable choices, to pick up litter, to repurpose and reuse materials, to be mindful of our human environmental impact, and to learn about the important animals we share this planet with.

Since 2020, her works have featured in group exhibitions for Foundation and Friends of The Royal Botanic Garden Sydney, Craft NSW for Sydney Craft Week, Bird Week Australia exhibition for BirdLife Australia, Remagine Art Prize (Hornsby Shire Council), Sustainable Waste 2 Art Prize ('SWAP' - City of Ryde Council) and for The Bower Reuse and Repair Centre.

Nichola also runs sustainable art workshops and presentations for children across Sydney schools and for Sydney Olympic Park's Youth Eco Summit (2020-2022). She has facilitated workshops for adults at Royal Botanic Garden Sydney, Northside Produce Market, North Sydney Community Centre and The Salons at Black Cicada Studio, Enmore.

Nichola completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts, Honours at UNSW's College of Fine Arts in 2003, and a Bachelor of Teaching in Secondary Education Visual Arts at UTS in 2011.

She plans to publish The Bowerbird Herd book featuring her work to inspire creativity and sustainable practices.
